Unit 7: Meeting Aesclepius!

OK, on to the unit 7 exercise. This meditation exercise was my favorite and oh did I feel it. I have a mentor, he is my brother in law's father, who in fact is a medium and practices Rekhi, Aura reading and is just a wonderful person. So I focused on him, and to my surprise experience a beautiful feeling especially towards the end of the exercise when the lady told us to imagine our mentor as a white light that enters our crown chakra and touches our mind, throat; communication chakra, and our heart. I can describe these feelings as pins and needles throughout my body. I was completely relaxed as always when I came out of the meditation.
I meditate regularly so this practice increases and recharges my psychological and spiritual well being. With me it is all about mental imagery, and I love affirmations. These are what pushes me back on my path when I seem step side ways!

The saying ' one cannot lead another where one has not gone himself ' may be describe as trying to teach, or lead an individual but coming  from a place of not experiencing what they have gone through yourself by only learning from the outskirts. Regrading health and wellness the physicians of  western medicine do not practice or learn enough about; if any, integral health, so all they know is how to help patients from the outside but believing; or maybe hoping, this will be satisfactory. We all, especially health care professional in what ever field of health, need to practice human flourishing and take care of ourselves physically, mentally and most importantly spiritually.
I understand spiritual and psychological health is an ongoing process. I have a great mentor, enjoy the readings of Buddha and all spiritual pursuits, know in myself I am a compassionate and loving person so I have found the correct path and do not need to worry about how to implement these factors as they are already leading me.

  1. Hi Lou,

Here I am again! You know I love reading through your blogs to help me gain more insight into all we are learning and the practices that go along with them.

I too did feel this exercise, but not in the same way (or probably as intensely) as you did. I did think about my grandmother, who has been gone for about 20 years now. She was truly a wonderful, wise, loving-kindness individual who I not only adored, but admired. I could definitely picture her face and focus, and when guided to bring in the light through the mind, throat, and heart, feel a warmth just spread through my body. I do like the mental imagery also, it helps to keep me focused, or at least bring me back more quickly.

I am still learning the value of meditation and practice it, although I need to kick it up a notch, so to speak. I do find myself able to quickly adapt the calming breathing in and out exercises when I start to feel myself get stressed or losing control (panicking) a bit.

Congrats to you on your finding a great mentor and being on a successful path; I hope to one day (soon!) be where you are.

    Sandy

  2. Hi Lou!
I love hearing about your wonderful path of human flourishing! You are lucky to have a mentor who has already gone to unity consciousness and knows exactly how to lead you. The exercise this week defiantly was an eye opener on how to feel relaxed-I personally was thinking of my own mentor being my grandfather who has passed, and arranging the bright light around him gave me tingling sensations as well when I passed that bright light on to myself.

I am happy to hear that you are a spiritual person, a person of hope, love and pride. As you are I am a spiritual person too, but I am on a different spiritual path than you are, but I have an open mind of trying new things and listening to other peoples thoughts. I hope you keep succeeding in the path of your own personal human flourishment.

  3. Wow Lou, it sounds like you've had some great guidance outside of class! Much of the concepts and exercises are new to me...some even seemed very abstract when we began unit 1. As we go on week by week, I start to see how truly useful this information, and these exercises can be. I did not accomplish becoming the person I look up to, BUT it did help me to relax and think of her with very warm feelings. I hope to get the hang of it, but the nice quiet time and the relaxation did help in it's own way. =)
